Heating & Furnace Repair

Heating repair, with the safety check included

Charlotte winters are short enough that a lot of heating problems get ignored until the first genuinely cold night, when every HVAC company in the county is booked. We run a full combustion and safety check on every gas furnace call — cracked heat exchangers and blocked flues do not announce themselves, and a repair that ignores them is not a repair.

Start to finish

1

Safety first, always

On any gas appliance we check draft, flame characteristics and heat exchanger condition before anything else. If we find a cracked exchanger we shut the unit down and tell you plainly, even when that ends the conversation.

2

Find the actual fault

Ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches, inducer motors and control boards all produce similar symptoms. We test rather than swap parts until something works, because parts-swapping is how a $200 call becomes an $800 one.

3

Flat price, then the fix

You approve the number before work starts. Common failures are stocked on the truck and finished the same visit.

4

The heat pump conversation

If yours is running on strip heat far more than it should, that is expensive and usually fixable. We check the reversing valve, defrost board and charge rather than writing it off as normal winter behaviour.

What a heating repair costs

Most heating repairs in this market run $180–$700. Ignitors, flame sensors and pressure switches sit at the low end; inducer motors, control boards and heat pump reversing valves sit at the top. As with cooling, the diagnostic fee is waived when you approve the repair and Comfort Club members never pay it.

FAQ

Heating & Furnace Repair questions

Heat pumps deliver air around 90–95°F, which is warmer than the room but cooler than your skin, so it registers as cool. That is normal. What is not normal is the system leaning on electric strip heat to make up the difference on a 45-degree day — that costs real money and usually means a charge or defrost problem.
Get everyone out of the house and call 911 or the gas utility first, not us. Once the house is cleared and safe, call us and we will find the source. Do not run the furnace again in the meantime.
Yes. It lets combustion products, including carbon monoxide, into the air you breathe. There is no safe patch. We red-tag the unit, shut off the gas, and quote a replacement — and we would tell a family member exactly the same thing.
The first hard freeze of the year is our busiest day, every year. We prioritise no-heat calls in households with infants, elderly residents or medical needs, and we tell you a realistic window instead of an optimistic one.
